Porcelain Veneers

Reseda dentist

Porcelain veneers (also known as porcelain laminates) are made of clear, wafer-thin caps of porcelain or resin composite materials designed to fit directly over misshapen, worn down, chipped, broken, spaced, discolored and/or irregular sized teeth. Veneers can be applied to a single tooth or multiple teeth at the same time. About a ½ millimeter of the patient’s enamel will be removed in preparation of a fitting. After a tooth impression is made and the newly constructed veneer(s) are received, the dentist will place the veneer on the patient’s tooth to test it for color and fit. The veneer will then be trimmed and shaped if necessary.

The patient’s tooth surface is then cleaned, polished, and etched in preparation to accept the veneer, which can also have its shade adjusted before it undergoes the curing process. Dr. Afsoon Gerayli uses an on-demand expert lab staff to create customized dental veneers to her exact specifications from top-grade materials to achieve a finished product that looks as natural as possible. Porcelain veneers are requested by many of Dr. Gerayli’s patients looking to decrease wrinkles and lines around the entire lower third of their face to make it appear fuller and more youthful.

Teeth Whitening

Most people want whiter and brighter teeth to enhance their smile. Many of them decide to undergo professional teeth whitening services which can last for one or more years, depending on after care maintenance. Professional teeth whitening is recommended as a safer method opposed to whitening teeth at home since a dentist can address any cavity or gum issues the patient has before this procedure is done. The dentist is best qualified to handle whitening treatments issues, such as tooth sensitivity. The dentist will usually photograph a patient’s teeth first to monitor the progress of the whitening treatment as well as examine the teeth and ask questions to find out what caused the staining. Before the whitening procedure begins, the dentist or a dental hygienist will clean any buildup of surface stains on the teeth. The best in-office whitening systems feature a gel buffer that blocks the tooth enamel from being damaged, and can transform teeth in one office appointment. A patient’s teeth can literally become 10 shades lighter in about an hour.

Tooth-Colored Filling

Composite restorations (tooth colored fillings) are an aesthetic, safe alternative to metal amalgam fillings. Dr. Gerayli recommends repairing a patient’s cavity with a tooth colored filling, since it forms a snug, durable, and uniform fit to the natural tooth structure. A metal filling will contract, expand and can even corrode, causing tooth stains, leakage and possibly a cavity to redevelop. Many patients fear the potential of mercury based fillings leeching into their bloodstream and the harmful side effects that can develop from long-term mercury poisoning.

The shade of the composite material is closely matched with the natural tooth once the dentist removes decay and damaged tissue from the infected area. The dentist will apply a solution that chemically roughens (via an etching primer) the smooth surface of the natural tooth so that it bonds better with the filling material. The filling is placed onto the tooth in thin coats and is made of a special, flexible white composite material. The material's pliability gives your dentist enough leeway to sculpt the resin in a manner that is virtually unnoticeable. After this stage of bonding is finished, the dentist will examine your bite and observe whether or not your upper and lower rows of teeth meet properly. Dr. Gerayli will harden the composite material with a curing light and then polish the entire tooth structure.

Bonding

The study and use of different techniques for permanently adhering natural teeth to various dental materials is known as adhesive dentistry or bonding. Direct composite bonding uses tooth-colored resins to repair tooth gaps and cracks and then cures it with a blue light. The properties and convenience of using dental adhesives products has significantly evolved and improved since their introduction in 1955. Current president, Dr. Irwin Smigel, who established the American Society for Dental Aesthetics (ASDA) is one of the earliest dental pioneers to use bonding as a technique to lengthen teeth, close gaps, and reshape the entire mouth instead of using crowns.

Bisco scientist Dr. Liang Chen, along with his colleagues, developed a new All-Bond Universal in March 2012. This adhesive is compatible with complete-etch, self-etch and selective etch techniques and can be used with any dual, self, and light-cure materials without a separate activator. It can be used for both direct and indirect surfaces, and can adhere with any dental surface. Bonding glass ceramics or cured composite materials as a separate, additional step requires the use of more silane or ceramic primer when using this product within pediatric, orthodontics, prosthodontics, and cosmetic procedures.

Anti-Aging Dentistry

Many people are abandoning traditional plastic surgery. The subfield of anti-aging dentistry in Los Angeles has been in the works for a long time. It is recognized around the world as an innovative breakthrough that delivers a more youthful appearance in just 4 visits! This new versatile approach to dentistry gives insight into how aging happens in the lower region of the face and offers techniques to correct it.

Dr. Afsoon Gerayli has the expertise to resolve complex aging issues which can greatly reduce the need for expensive, invasive or temporary methods to improve the appearance. Although modern advances in cosmetic surgery have delivered amazing anti-aging results, several issues remained too difficult to improve. As one of the top dentists of the sub-field of Anti-Aging dentistry, Dr. Gerayli can greatly reverse the effects of aging in the bottom portion of the face.

She understands that the dysfunctions of the face's structure becomes increasingly more visible as you get older, creating narrower lips, hanging jaw-lines, and creases surrounding the mouth and nose due to waning bone and muscle support. However, the revolutionary techniques used in Anti-Aging dentistry helps patients reach long-term anti-aging solutions that were unheard of just 2 years ago!

Metal-Free Dentistry

White composite fillings are the highlight of metal-free dentistry. Metal-free dentistry also branches to veneers, dentures, implants, and complete mouth reconstruction. Although some procedures are best suited using metal applications, such as implants, this option is not always possible. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has released no official warnings concerning harmfulness of metal in dental restorations. It is believed by the administration, however, that dental fillings containing mercury may be harmful to expecting females, fetuses, and children.

Metal fillings have been known to expand and contract in different temperatures and can fracture teeth. Lastly, metal is not as aesthetic as composite materials. We believe in offering patients restoration materials made only from porcelain and composite resins including plastic which are stronger than metal and do not present its structural complications and safety concerns. Plus, composite materials can be color-customized in order to blend to the shade of natural colored teeth so that it is undetectable. Dr. Gerayli uses strict, safe mercury removal techniques to replace a bridge, an old metal filling, or crown in favor of metal-free replacement offerings. Many insurers may deny non-metal dentistry procedures but the benefits of paying for one outweighs the out-of-pocket expense.

Smile Makeover

As a top dentist in Tarzana and Reseda, Dr. Gerayli understands that many of her patients don’t have extensive downtime to spare to receive quality dental work. With over 17 years of expertise and access to the very latest milling technology, Dr. Gerayli can perform and complete virtually any smile makeover in one week or less. New patients often worry that their smile makeover will look unnatural which is a legitimate concern. Dental treatments that are not tailored to the individual can produce only temporary results and even cause new dental issues down the line.

Dr. Gerayli uses successful techniques to prevent these scenarios from happening and ensures each patient gets high-quality treatment customized to them. Of course, some dental cases are too complex to complete in a week, but Victory Cosmetic Dentistry guarantees that patients can still expect to receive personalized treatment in as little downtime as possible. A complimentary consultation with Dr. Gerayli will give patients an outline of what type of dental work is needed and the time length involved. Moreover, she will conduct an extensive exam of your teeth one by one, to decide which dental strategy or combined dental strategy will be most compatible to you.
